PUPPY KINDERGARTEN
A
four-week course for pups 3-1/2 to 5 months of age, especially for those
owners who are unable to provide the basic foundation obedience training
and all-important socialization
necessary for their healthy progress into adulthood.
This course is a must for puppies that are sitting in the back yard waiting
all day for their owners to come home from work.
Puppy Kindergarten gives your dog a supportive and structured environment
for learning the basic commands - heel, sit, stay, down, and come. After
approximately 4 weeks of in board training we will then give you, the
owner, a demonstration of your pup's full obedience circuit. You will
then have your first lesson on how to handle your puppy with it's newly
learned obedience. At the end of the lesson you will leave your dog with
us and schedule an appointment to come back your next available day. We
want you and your family to get in as many lessons as you can over a 1
week period of time. At the end of each lesson we will be working with
you on housebreaking, chewing, digging, and general problem solving.
After a week of lessons you are ready to take your puppy home. We then
go to your home to do an in-home lesson. This lesson is not just to show
you how to do the obedience again but is to teach you how to apply what
you and your puppy learned at the kennel. We will be going over things
such as what to do when you have company over, what do you do to keep
your puppy out of the living room, how to safely defrost a chicken on
the counter, or whatever problems need to be worked out between you and
your puppy.
Once you have your puppy back in your home with the family the training
and support does not end. We encourage you to come back and do additional
lessons with us here at the school, at no additional charge, for the life
of the dog.
Training can begin at 3-1/2 months, after your dog has received his important
vaccines
and can be safely be brought into a larger dog community. If you need
help even earlier, our in-home consultation will point you in the right
direction on housebreaking, chewing, and other young puppy problems.
If you plan to put your dog through just one course, we recommend that
you choose this one important, fundamental training program.
